Hello all, I am looking for a professionals advice here, or someone that has relevant experience working for work, after hours at home.

This is my most recent creation, it's ugly and the code is functional but not clean. My questions are:
1. is this just rubbish? Too simple to be proud of?
2. if not, what would something like this cost a customer, what would you charge for it (like how many hours and how much per hour)
3. where can I hire someone to do this? I don't think of this a super advanced programming, (like a video game) but its tremendously useful, albeit time consuming.

If there is a better place to get an answer for these questions I am all ears. This forum has been among the most useful tools I have ever used and this is an odd question.

Thank you as always for all of your help and advice.

Excel Facts

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
1. It's not crap if it works for you.
2. As for what it would cost, custom programming fees range widely, but most reputable firms are going to start at around $100+/hour. If you go with something like ELance it's substantially cheaper, but you also get what you pay for. As for time involved, it depends on the underlying functionality. If it's just a form with controls, then you're looking at a few hours. If it's actually storing quote details like a database and using VBA, then probably a minimum of 10 hours. That's where a good scope of work comes in.
3. For where to go to hire someone you can send an e-mail to consult @ mrexcel.com.

Smitty, thanks for the reply.
The inevitability of this form (and his AT LEAST 40 brothers) is each field is tied to a cell. The sheet with the cells is the only data that emails. The database at the office decodes, repopulates, stores and records. As well as fills out other sheets with the values where needed. I have my work cut out for me. But I can't go in and tell my boss I want $1000 a sheet...... But having an idea gives me a little leverage. :)

Hmmm, that brings up a sticky situation in that whatever you create for a company generally belongs to them unless you specifically reach an agreement that they'll pay you for development outside of your normal course of work.

I worked for a Fortune 500 organization and created a sales automation tool that was used company-wide (a lot of which was created on my own time). They stopped using it when IT finally caught up and created a new system, at which point my boss and I wanted to turn it into a saleable application. The CEO told us in no uncertain terms that the company owned my work and we couldn't use it, even though it wasn't being used anymore.

Smitty, Again, why I head here first. I will never dispute that my employer owns this material, but I own my time. and if someone is setting out on a journey to do 40 of these, best give a "free sample" before the discussion of compensation. Great advice, again.
