Problems with pasting Excel data as a new table

Has anybody heard of or have a solution for this:

I used to be able to quickly create tables in Access by pasting a spreadsheet from Excel directly into the tables pane. Access would ask if the first row contained headings and then it would create a table with the name that appeared on the spreadsheet tab.

Now I get this message after asking about the first row:

"Microsoft Jet database engine could not find object...." followed by a string of characters which includes the tab name from Excel and the range name in R#C# format.

I've tried using a blank database and variations of Excel files but nothing works. Access will still import the file through the import wizard.
Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
Can't say I've tried doing it that way before but I did get the same message when I tried it for this "post".

Obviously if it let you do it before it would seem like a quick method, never the less using the import wizard is still quick enough if you just hit the "Finish" Button either before or after you chosse "Headings".

The way your doing it doesn't really tell Access where to Paste?
