Wonder if anybody has advice for this.

In the lower information band of Excel, i am getting "circular reference in xxx" a cell. But in the "Formulas" ribbon it shows no circular references.

At any rate i cannot figure out what the problem is.

Here is the formula cited in one of the cells as a circular reference.
=IF((MOD(NOW(),1)>0.18),TRUNC(NOW()),TRUNC((NOW()-1)))

It seems pretty clear that cannot be a circular reference.

On the other hand there are cells in which i am getting #VALUE that i do not understand (so far) and so there might be some circular reference somewhere. None of the cells with #VALUE are listed specifically as the circular references in the messages.

Do you have any suggestions on how to proceed to investigate this. Is the message about the above formula just "bogus"...and if so how to separate the bogus from the valid?

Additional information. I closed Excel and opened just that workbook so no other open workbooks could cause an issue. I tried "Open and repair". During the Open, I get a message "Microsoft Excel cannot calculate a formula there is a circular reference in an open workbook but the reference cannot be listed for you..." Wow...makes it difficult to find if it cannot be listed. I continue to have "circular reference..." listed in the bottom message on many sheets, but not in the Formula ribbon.

Help!

Thanks!

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
That formula works fine for me...there must be something else going on.
On the Formulas tab there is a "trace dependents" and "trace precedents" buttons...do those give you any results?

You can try running the macro in the link below to see if it picks anything up
