Problem with Rank Formula

I can't seem to figure out why the rank is skipping numbers. Here is my formula. Thanks in advance!!

=RANK(E2,$E$2:$E$26,0)+COUNTIF($E$2:E2,E2)-1
 

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Sort by date Sort by votes
Can you provide an example to illustrate:

- what you want your formula to do?
- what you mean by "skipping numbers"?
