Problem with data type = Memo

Greetings.

I am trying to write a query that will make a new table. The query will produce an answer than has text great than 255 characters, so I have chosen "memo" as the "Data Type" for the Field Name it outputs to.

I have saved the table (with the Data Type as "Memo"), but when I run the query, it changes the Data Type back to "Text," and as a result, cuts off my answer at the 255 character mark.

Have been fiddling with this for a while and can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Would appreciate any assistance.

Thanks for your help.

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
You can get around this by first defining the table, like you said (an empty table). Then change your Make-Table query to an Append query. A make-table query will always overwrite the original table.
