Usually I receive e-mails informing me of responses from readers on threads I've posted.

Today I received two e-mails pointing me to this thread:

but the last response was 2020!

So I'm surprised I got an e-mail about it.

Is there something wrong with the alert system or have I misunderstood how it works?
