I seem to be having problems posting when i use the greater than or less than symbols at the moment - any ideas?

Sure! It's because those "greater than" and "less than" symbols are used for HTML tags. The board thinks you're trying to do something with HTML when it sees a< , which is the character to start a tag.

If you must use them, just put a space after it, so that it's not "connected" to whatever you type.

Should do the trick, for the most part.

Though if you're posting code for someone to use, you can either mention that there's a space there that they would need to take out, or use the< PRE> (no spaces) HTML tag instead of the code tag (in the bbcode)

Make any sense?

Thanks - I'm a bit new to the board

When your writing your post, directly below the post body it says "Disable HTML on this post".

If you check this, you can post your formulas without having to edit them.

Cheers for that - hadn't noticed that feature

Ah, sorry. There is that as well.

I always forget it's there since I never use it!

Also, if you're posting some elaborate code, it may be a good idea to turn off smilies down there as well.

A lot of people forget, and in the middle of their code they get a big  where there should be an '8' and a closing parenthesis.
