Prize money payout

I am very very new to excel and this forum. My math skills are so so,
any direction or hints will help.

I want as spreadsheet that will figure out a payout based on category(class),number of entries per placement.

I have a racing circuit that has riders entered is classes, each class can pay variable amounts per entires in that class, Each class will have positions of finish and pay outs can vary. Plus a Grand champ that gets a set amount.

Example

Grand champ gets 20% of purse. 232 (230)
Purse is $20 per entries 58, entries - 1160
930 left to payout. $20 minumum set for 5th in this example.

places are based on 1 payout per 3 enteries in each class

Classes are AA BB CC DD EE
Places in each 1 1 1 1 1
2 2 2 2 2
3 3 3
4 4
5

I want all 1 st to be equal,amount 2nd equal etc..

Thanks in advance, I can do it manually but cannot find the math to apply in sheet..

I am finding it hard to follow what you are after.
From your manual workings what is the payout for 2nd,3rd, 4th, and 5th placings, and how did you arrive at these?

The only bit I can work is the 1st place of $230 (rounding down from $232) with the formula

=FLOOR(C2*0.2,10)

where C2 is $1160

I may not be able to assist however, wiser heads here should be able to once it becomes clearer what you want.
