Hi,

I am looking for a formula to set a priority number in F:F based on a job reference in EO3:EO512

The job reference may change in terms of entries as this may be constantly changing and there may be multiple different job references within the range EO3:EO512

ie

AB1234 1
AB1234 2
AB1234 3
AC5555 1
AC5555 2
AZ0001 1
AZ0001 2
AZ0001 3
AZ0001 4
BB9999 1
BB9999 2
ZZ1122 1

I would also like a manual override in F:G and if possible the formula in F:F to change depending on F:G

Many thanks for any help

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
For the first part, something like

Excel 2013/2016
EF
3AB12341
4AB12342
5AB12343
6AC55551
7AC55552
8AZ00011
9AZ00012
10AZ00013
11AZ00014
12BB99991
13BB99992
14ZZ11221
Priority
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
F3=COUNTIF(E$3:E3,E3)

And I don't understand part2

Hi Fluff,

First part, perfect

So we have the automatically generated "Priority" setting based on the lines per job reference

So the next part would be if line 3 became a priority 1 I could manually enter 1 into the corresponding cell in F:G and the 1st and second lines followed suit and changed to 2 and 3 respectively

ie
AB1234 2
AB1234 3
AB1234 1

Thanks
