Prevent data entry into Excel

Hey all, so I have a program involving an RFID reader acting as a keyboard wedge. This means that whenever a tag falls within range of the antenna, the tag is put into the location where the cursor is on the computer. This creates a problem when running a program with cells and simultaneously collecting data. So my question is, is there a way to either A) prevent data from being logged into Excel for a specific period of time or B) a way to turn off a specific USB port for a given time and then turn the same port back on from VBA in Excel?

Thanks,

Devin
