Pre-populating a 2nd form (subform?) with info?

Hello all,

I have a quick question.

If I have a customer marketing form with a field for customer name, and I have a button that opens up a 2nd form to enter more detailed marketing data, is there a way to 'pre-populate' the 2nd form with the customer name from form #1?

Thanks for your help!

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
Yes

Have you created the second form?

If so make sure the toolbox wizard is turned on and when you put the button on the first form just follow the wizard.

I did use the wizard when I created the 2nd button but it does not appear to pre-populate it. Is there a way to ensure/check a field (formula/command or otherwise) that this information is present on the 2nd form? (e.g. SetXXXX or something similar?)

If so, WHERE would I look to type in/enter it? I am trying to establish this database (my 1st try) and I want to reduce the workload since this will likely save me a lot of time, energy, sanity, etc.

Thanks again!

Is the second form based on a table/query?

Is there a link between the queries/tables that the two forms are based on?

The 1st form is based on Table A, while the 2nd form is based on Table B.

Should I look into 'Relationships' and link Table A to Table B on customer # (or a common item that I want pre-populated on Form B)?

Thanks again! :)

Hi, following on from Norie's question, this article explains that the relationships must be in place before you create the form / subform.
