Not sure if an Excel Power Query question falls under Power BI or Excel - apologies if this is the wrong form. In excel I am using Power Query and wanted to add a "custom column" I want to add a formula that looks at the date in an existing column [QuoteExpiration] and if its before todays date then "Expired" if its after then "Valid". The column may not have a date when that happens then ""

Any help is appreciated. new to power query

Power BI

Business Intelligence Tools: Power Pivot, Power View, Power Query, DAX Formulas
XL2010/2013/2016/365/2019 Power Query and Power Pivot - from and to Excel
Power BI - Power Query and Power Pivot - from Excel but not back directly to Excel

you can try (not tested)
if [QuoteExpiration] < Date.From(DateTime.LocalNow()) then "Expired" else if [QuoteExpiration] > Date.From(DateTime.LocalNow()) then "Valid" else null
or
try (if [QuoteExpiration] < Date.From(DateTime.LocalNow()) then "Expired" else if [QuoteExpiration] > Date.From(DateTime.LocalNow()) then "Valid" else null) otherwise null

would be fine to see an example with your dates via XL2BB
