Powerpoint - reading data from Excel

In a powerpoint presentation, I need to show a number which is calculated in an Excel spreadsheet. That information will be changing each time the presentation is shown, but the file path and name where it can be found is always the same. Is there any way to have the information in powerpoint linked to the cell in Excel so that it updates itself when the workbook is updated?

Yes, open the PowerPoint help and search for "Link to Excel"

One thing the help file doesn't tell you is that both files (Excel and PowerPoint) must be on the same network server, or if on your hard drive, in the same folder. This allows the links to work.
