PowerPivot updating data source advice

Hi all,

I am new to PowerPivot so this may be a fairly simple question.

I have a dataset which is provided to me every few weeks in excel format and is around 150mb and 650k rows & several dozen columns.
I have the main PowerPivot file with all the analysis in it, which I have built by uploading the data into PowerPivot and then writing formulas, putting in pivot tables etc.

Then when I got a new dataset, the only way I found to develop the same analysis with the new data is to basically do everything from scratch.

What I ideally would like to do is to be able to somehow upload the new dataset and apply all of the existing analysis to it.

Is there a practical way of doing it? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Peter

Excel Facts

What does custom number format of ;;; mean?
Three semi-colons will hide the value in the cell. Although most people use white font instead.
The general process is this.
1. Get your source data and save it in a set location with a defined name
2. Create a new blank workbook and import the data directly into the data model in the blank workbook
3. Do all your design in the new workbook
4. When new data is available, replace the original workbook from step 1 with the new version
5. Hit refresh in the workbook defined in step 2
