Powerpivot incorrectly identifying duplicate rows

I have two tables from my company's CRM--Accounts and Potentials. The Account table has a unique identifier (AccountID) that is 18 digits long which I am trying to use as the linking field in the relationship between the two tables.

Because the AccountID is 18 digits, Excel turns it into scientific notation. Therefore, I am importing the field as a text column. However, when I try to create the relationship between the two tables, Powerpivot is telling me that both columns have duplicate values, even though this is not true.

Does anyone have an idea why this might be happening?

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Have you tried pasting the values into Excel and going to data->Data Tools-> Remove Duplicates?

I know there aren't supposed to be duplicate values but this might give you a starting place (for example, if Excel truncated a value or something and is erroneously reading two "unique" values as the same, you'll at least know which ones to look at further).
