Powerpivot Flattened Table - Banded Rows Don't Work (Excel 2010)

I have an ongoing problem with getting banded rows to work on flattened tables created with PowerPivot. I can get other table formatting to work. But, for some reason the row formatting does not get displayed.

I have tried checking and unchecking the banded rows option - no change.

I have three different workbooks and they all have the same problem.
