Powerpivot: fixed data type for linked table

Hi,

I currently have an excel table linked to powerpivot. Powerpivot will automatically set the data type for that field to numbers when the data is updated. However, when I delete all data from that table and update the data model, powerpivot then changes the data type to text since there is no data on that field.

I tried setting the data type on the table to be number as well as updating the data type on the powerpivot, but every time I empty the table and update powerpivot changes the data type to text again.

The issue with this is that I then get errors after saving since a lot of the formulas on my model rely on that field.

Is there a way to set the data type for that column in a way that won't be affected everytime the table is cleared?

Thanks,
Eduardo

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
If nobody else thinks of a solution, the best I could suggest would be running it through power query.
