Hello All,

I am using MS Excel 2013 Professional Plus. I am reading Chapter 6 of PowerPivot Alchemy and am attempting to follow along but I do not have the "Advanced" tab. I am going the "File" where I expected to see an option to "Switch to Advanced Mode" but it is not there. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance for any help,

leimst

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Hello leimst,

how did you get to "File"?
From a) your Excel sheet or from b) your Data Model Manage Area?
It should be b) What do you see there?: Only "Save", "Save As" and "Close"?

"File" is at the top of my menu ribbon to the left of "Home" and "Insert". When I click on File I see; Info, New, Open, Save, Save As, Print, Share, Export, Close, Account, and Options...that's it. I have also gone to Options and updated to version 15.0.4693.1002 but no luck.

Yes, I can see the PowerPivot tab, can click on it, then go to Data Model and click the Manage button. and then the PowerPivot window comes up with Menu Ribbon options Home, Design, and Linked Table but no Advanced tab.

Click the dropdown to the left of the Home tab in Power Pivot's window - do you see a Switch to Advanced View option?

No. Clicking on "File" results in a black menu all the way down the left hand side of my screen with Info, New, Open, Save, Save As, Print, Share, Export, Close, Account, and Options as choices but that is it. No "Switch to Advanced Mode" available.

You are clicking in the Power Pivot window, not the Excel window?

Thank you RoryA!!! That was it. I was clicking on the "File" heading in the Excel Menu Ribbon instead the the small icon with the dropdown arrow on the PowerPivot screen. That was driving me crazy...thank you again for the help and patience!
