I have downloaded an xls spreadsheet with the past powerball winning numbers. I want to use this data set and find out every combination of numbers that add up to a certain total, for example 160.
I do not know how to go about doing this, without writing huge, nested if then statements and even then I am not sure how to go about it without ending up with a huge spreadsheet that I cannot make any sense of..
In addition, I want to use this spreadsheet to pick say 7 numbers, then have the spreadsheet give me every possible combination of 5 numbers using the 7 numbers. The 7 number data set could then be increased to say 8 if my office can raise enough money each week in order to purchase enough tickets.
This spreadsheet is not intended to pick the correct and future winning numbers, but I am just trying to reduce the odds from 1-10,000 trillion to say 1-10,000. I am more likely to die from a lightning strike going to purchase a ticket than I am winning the Powerball, but writing a spreadsheet would make me feel better.
I will share in any winnings with whoever helps. Seriously.
I am using Excel Mac 2008 at home and Excel 2007 at work.
