Posting Examples?

Please - why is it so infuriatingly difficult to post an "Example"? - I'm sure many more would use this site and it would be far easier for mentors to understand and analyse the requirements of the poster...

Sure - rewriting a problem in a different form may asssist one to identify a solution, but surely better to initially view the "real thing"

I don't find it so. I presume that you have considered the options outlined in section B of the Forum Use Guidelines

Most other Excel forums allow file attachments, but I'm not sure that there are many of them with more active users than this one.

I disagree. On the few occasions when I have received actual files, the user most commonly says something like "look at the file and you will see what I am trying to do." In most of those cases, having spent half an hour or more, I do not understand what the user is trying to do - the user has removed from themselves the responsibility of clearly & concisely explaining their requirement.

The lack of attachments is one of the main reasons that I choose to answer questions here, rather than one of the many other Excel forums that do allow attachments.

And with attachments come a whole other host of issues, such as bandwidth and security issues.
Many companies (such as my own) actually have policies prohibiting the download of files from the internet, per security protocol.
