Hello;

What is the difference between “Post Reply” and “Quick Reply” ??
I've never used the latter! The message boxes look the same.

Is it the size of the reply (number of characters!) and possibly the availability of the full menu of Options & Tools ??

Thank you.

'Quick reply' merely spares you the load of the reply page...

Quick reply does have some options missing, eg indenting, lists.

Also when you use Post Reply the thread appears below the reply box.

Now maybe we could usefully learn the difference between the QUOTE button and the REPLY button.

Quote goes to the same page as Post Reply and quotes the entire message being replied to, including any code.

Particularly handy when someone posts a few hundred lines of code.:)

Or when replying to the immediately preceding post.

Or when replying to the immediately preceding post.
I think quoting or partial quoting of the immediately preceding post can be quite useful. When you are composing your post, you don't know that it will still be the immediately preceding post by the time you 'Submit'. I find threads like the following (particularly if posted over a short period of time) somewhat annoying:

OP: Question
Helper 1: Answer 1
Helper 2: Answer 2
OP: That didn't work (or Thanks, that worked)

A quote in the final post would have clarified easily.

How about:

@ Helper1: Thanks, that worked.

How about:

@ Helper1: Thanks, that worked.
Of course that would be just as good. The quote is just one way to identify specifically what you are replying to.
