I have tried to follow an answer that you gave a fellow lost excel user. :) Unfortunately I can not get it to work so I need more information. I have a worksheet that is broken down into projects (areas in the worksheet). In each section I have to have one cell that tells when anything in the combined area changed. Example: in D9 I have to show a date of the last time anything changed in area C11:F61. How do I do this? What do I type in D9 to connect to the code sheet? What do I put in the code sheet? Thank you - Christine

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
Hi & welcome to MrExcel.
Add this to the relevant sheet module
Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
   If Target.CountLarge > 1 Then Exit Sub
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("C11:F61")) Is Nothing Then
      Range("D9").Value = Date
   End If
End Sub
Whenever you change a value in C11:F61 todays date will be put into D9

Do I type anything into D9? I added the code above into the Module1(code). I tried by changing cell D11, but no date showed up in D9. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

It needs to go in the sheet module, not a normal module.
Right click the tab of the sheet you want it to work on > select View code > paste the code into the window that opens up.

You're welcome & thanks for the feedback

Is there a way to do this in more than one location on the same worksheet? I also have to do the same thing in I11:L61 with it showing up in cell J9.

You can simply add another similar IF...THEN block, i.e.
Code:
Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range)
   If Target.CountLarge > 1 Then Exit Sub
If Not Intersect(Target, Range("C11:F61")) Is Nothing Then
      Range("D9").Value = Date
   End If
[COLOR=#ff0000] If Not Intersect(Target, Range("I11:L61")) Is Nothing Then
      Range("J9").Value = Date
   End If[/COLOR]
End Sub
