I work at a facility that doesn't allow macros to be enabled but I have lots of data to pull in and I want to create specs for it like you would in Access so it doesn't take so long to clean. Is it also possible to fill in the last column with the name in the text file after the underscore i.e. if the text file was "April2018_Med" I would want "Med" to appear in the 4th column. And in the column after that I would like date the task is being completed. Is it also possible for the specs to be based on making specific breaks?

Thanks.

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Try [Data > From Text/CSV]

Your data is loaded into a table that can be refreshed on demand, and you can perform a heap of different data transformations etc., such as joining columns of data or extracting certain values. To play around with the feature, create the data connection, then go back in to Edit it
