Is it simple for someone to fill in the following?
I'm not looking for comprehensive definitions; just the broad effective differences.
Code:
Modal Popup Effect
----- ----- ------
False False
False True
True False
True True

Excel Facts

Use Data, What-If Analysis, Goal Seek to find the correct input cell value to reach a desired result
With modal set to yes you can only work with that form until it is closed - even if you minimise the form you can't use whatever is behind it. With popup set to yes you can minimise the form and use whtever is behind it (provided modal is set to no) - but you lose the form toolbar and possibly the ability to change back and forth between form and datasheet view. Usually you set both to yes for a dialogue box or if you want to tie the user down to using the database a specific way or set both to 'No' to let the user do whatever they like.

Differences explained in 'MS speak' here and here - although they sound pretty similar to me!

HTH, Andrew. :)
