Populate a cell with a description when a code is entered in another cell

Hi. I have engineers that complete mechanical checks. To standardise the terminology I want them to enter a 2 letter code which in turn displays a description in another cell. The codes and descriptions are on another sheet. I can’t attach the file but here are a couple of pics that are colour coded to help.

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
Welcome to the MrExcel board!

Use Data Validation (on the Data ribbon tab), using the first column of the table on the other sheet, in the cell(s) where you want the 2-letter code entered.
Use VLOOKUP, using the table on the other sheet, to return the full description.

Post back if you need more detailed direction.
