Hi
I understand why PMT() returns negative value. But what I do not understand how excel write that value in red?
Does that function change the format of the cell? It is not by default in excel that the negative value is in red?
I have feeling that PMT() programmed to put the -ve value in red. Am I right?

Who is Mr Spreadsheet?
Author John Walkenbach was Mr Spreadsheet until his retirement in June 2019.
I entered the formula into a cell formatted as "General" and it automatically changed the format of the cell to "Currency", which does have Red built in for negative values. The custom format code for Currency is $#,##0.00;[Red]-$#,##0.00
