Plot a single point on a graph from two data points

Hi guys,
I am trying to make a graph to plot a single point based on two numbers (averages of larger series'), where axis x measures the first number, and axis y measures the second. However, the x-axis (I'm trying on a standard scatter graph) seems to be locked to a static 1,2,3...etc which I cant change.

I've attached am image to illustrate the type of thing I'm after.

I'm pretty hopeless at Excel, but thought even I wouldn't struggle with this... and here I am! So grateful for any help :D

Click a single cell with one of the values in it. Create xy scatter. Click the chart and then select data. In the legend entries (series) part to the left click edit. You can then enter your x and y values.
