I am pretty new to excel and haven't used it a lot. I am trying to create a project that can help me at work with calculating amps. I work with security equipment and I want to be able to calculate the total amp output of multiple parts with varying quantities.

When I input the part number, I want it to be assigned to the numerical number of amps the piece of equipment puts out.

For Example if I type part number "WAV2" I want it to equal 500 (because it draws 500mA) and then in another column i can enter how many WAV2's I am using on the job and have it multiply to give me the total amps I'm using.
So if I'm using 3 WAV2's it will say "1500" in a third column.
I want to be able to do this for up to 25 different part numbers and have it give a grand total of every part number and its quantity listed.

thank you!

So this sounds like a basic VLOOKUP and math organization problem. If you make a list that contains all of your part numbers and the amps drawn by those parts. Then have a input column (on another tab?) where the user would enter the part number, a VLOOKUP column to pull the amps drawn by that part, an input quantity column, and then finally a quick multiplication column.

I am unable to attach an example spreadsheet, but this sounds like a introduction to the VLOOKUP function.
