Placing a "Pin" in a PDF?

I'm not sure if this is the right way of going about this, but hear me out.

I have a list with a bunch of work centers in our building. When a user clicks that list, they want to be able to bring up a map and see where that work station is located.

I was thinking of using coordinates (pixel x/pixel y) to place a pin on a PDF, but not sure if this is the best way to do that. Any ideas?
