pivot tables and shared workbooks

I have a shared workbook which is used by up to 10 users at a time, i need to construct a live "dashboard" on a separate tab based upon the data entered on an entry sheet tab. The dashboards will consist of statistics and charts, is this possible using pivot tables within a shared workbook or will i have to do it in a separate wookbook linked to the shared one?

Any suggestions most welcome
