Pivot table with multiple columns for a month.

I am trying to create a pivot table where the file has nine columns of data for each month, I have the month heading merged and centered across the columns for that month. I am trying to create the table which would allow me to place the months in a column heading and place columns A & B (see attached) on the side so that data can be placed in row. I eventually want to use slicers to help break down the data and build charts. I have attached an example of the data.

I attempted to use their add-in to provide the file, however it kept informing me it couldn't because it was a protected file.

Thanks,
Ken

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
Welcome to the forum.

Please update your profile so the excel version you use is displayed on your button.

My suggestion is to put the month in a column. instead of having 18 extra columns.
If you must have 27 columns, then I suggest using power query to unpivot your data.
Then you can build a pivot table.

Take a look at this video:

Thank you for the response, when you say put the month in a column instead of having 18 columns can you provide an example?

I'm hoping you took the time to review the video.

The problem you have is that you are trying to create another report from a report. Reports and data reporting are most effectively done with reasonably structured data (normalized), not other reports. If you can "unreport" (or unpivot) your data you'll be able to slice and dice and report more easily.
By creating a column of month, you will normalize your data (you could also remove any totals or statistical formulas to avoid double counting).

Yes I watched the video however, when I tried to unpivot the data I got the following (see below) not what I saw in the video or what you show above.

It looks like you selected all the columns and not just the ones that needed to be unpivoted with a month name.
Also, you probably need to remove(cut/delete) all summary columns.

It would be really helpful if you would post an xl2bb (or a table) of data. Just 4 or 5 rows. You can "dummy" it up for privacy concerns, but it should be somewhat consistent with your real data.

Thanks.

I am trying to use the xl2bb but the ability to post is greyed out and I can't get a fix, here is a post of the file as it looks

You are trying to make a report out of an already complex report. It is not normalized or tabular data.

Is there anyway you can get the source data that was used to create this report?

Take a look at this other video by MyOnlineTrainingHub. She stresses the importance of starting with data that is reportable:

I'll try to mock something up. But, will take time, or maybe another power query user will make suggestions.
