I have one excel sheet with sales that are listed on a daily basis. I now compare them year to year with formulas on the sheet. Can this be done in a pivot table? The part the trips me up is I need to compare the same day last year, not the same date. So, for example, August 1, 2023 is a Tuesday, however, in 2022 August 1 was a Monday. For me to get an accurate comparison in 2023 I need to compare to that same Tuesday in 2022, which was August 2, 2022. Can this comparison be done within a pivot table or does it need to be done in an excel worksheet prior to creating a pivot table? I am looking at having fewer calculations and simplifying my workbook.

Any ideas or suggestions are much appreciated.

As you have 365, you should be able to use Powerpivot. Where you can bring in two or more tables into a oivot table.

Without questioning your logic as to why to would compare days to rather than dates, you would have to introduse thw week number that way you may get what you wish. The downside to this is at the start and end of the year, where certain days may fall in week 1 or week 53
