I have a date field in a pivot table which is sourced from a list object table all within the same workbook. The slicer date format is 11/06/15. I want to change its format to 11/06. Things I have tried so far with no effect in the slicer date format:
  1. change the format of the all dates within the date field in the underlying pivot table, refresh the slicer
  2. change the date format in the underlying source data, refresh the pivot, refresh the slicer
  3. scour the internet for an hour

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Your second step should have been successful. Just tried in one of my own pivots and once I change the format of the column with the dates to dd/mm and then refresh the pivot table, the slicer shows dates with the dd/mm format. It should work upon refreshing the pivot but try to refresh all instead of a normal refresh (Ctrl+Alt+F5). That sometimes works for me.
You could also post a sample so we can have a closer look.
