Pivot Table Question on Rows

Hi All,

I have a question about Pivot Tables.
Not exactly sure how to describe this but I'll try

It's about Row Labels.

When there is one entry in a row everything is fine

eg

Material Number Sales 2019 Sales 2020
123456 555000 600000

But if I add a row in an attempt to describe the material number it becomes a subset of the material number

eg

What I want to show is
Material Number Material Description Sales 2019 Sales 2020
123456 Salt 555000 600000

When I drag Material Description Across
I get say

Material Number Sales 2019 Sales 2020
- 123456 555000 600000
Salt 555000 600000

It's on a second line

I can go into Classic Pivot and do this and remove subtotals etc and eventually get the Pivot table to get what I want it to look like but I can't understand why I can't do it quickly by the default view.

I can't find anyone else asking this question.
Maybe noone else has this need.
I need two fields in Rows to describe what the Values are. Number or Name on its own is not enough of a descriptor.

I want the Number / Description to be repeated down through the table not at the top and a whole load of blanks below it.

If I have a number of Row Fields the whole thing gets really spread out with more blanks

I'd be delighted if someone could give me a reasonably clear answer to this question.
If the only way to do it is with the Classic Pivot view then as least I know there is nothing else I can do.

Thanks in advance
Hector

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off

Is the question too unclear or is it that there is no solution except switching display to the Classic Pivot View and remove subtotals?

My usual settings for Pivot Tables, in the Display options is, SHOW IN TABULAR MODE.
I use the REPEAT ALL ROW ITEMS about 50% of the time.
I often turn off all Subtotals and then if necessary will add back any subtotal by Right clicking the item desired and choosing Subtotal.
