Pivot Table Fields

I have inherited a spreadsheet that has pivot tables to summarize the data. The data source is a tab with only 10 Columns, A:J, but there are over 20 columns in the pivot table, many of which do not match the source data. These columns are listed in the Values section of the pivot table menu. This spreadsheet has stopped producing some of the desired fields, and I need to figure out why. I would appreciate any insight on how these extra pivot table columns are being originated in the first place.

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
maybe calculated fields (Analyze - Calculation - Fields (items and sets))
