Why is the total doubled in the pivot table from the source data? i.e. the source show 150 but the privot table shows 300.

I have used pivot tables for a while and never had this trouble. I use Excel 2003

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
Use XL2BB to show us a sample of your source data and then show us your mocked up expected results.

Sorry. I do not know what XL2BB is and how I would go about to install it. Is there away to send you the sheet as an attachment?

MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data that will allow us to copy/paste it to our Excel spreadsheets, so we can work with the same copy of data that you are. Instructions on using this tool can be found here: XL2BB Add-in

Note that there is also a "Test Here” forum on this board. This is a place where you can test using this tool (or any other posting techniques that you want to test) before trying to use those tools in your actual posts.

Thank you for your patience. I have downloaded xl2bb and extracted it. Launched Excel, but there is no Options under the file tab. I used Excel 2003 with windows 10. Please guide me further. thank you

I hadn't noticed that you were using 2003 & the add-in does not support that version. But you can copy a range of cells & paste it into the reply window.

Would it be possible to e-mail you the spreadsheet? It is rather large. Please let me know. Thanks

We don't need the full spreadsheet. Reread my post on what you should attach. We only need a small sample that is representative of your real data and a mocked up solution. If you insist on a full workbook, then post it to either Dropbox.com or Box.net and provide a link to the file.

No, that would be a breach of #4 of the Forum Rules
Best if you can make up a small dummy sample file that demonstrates your problem/issue and post that data (I have removed that huge data you posted as it made the thread unreadable)

Do you have a total in the data source and is that included in your pivot table data range ?
Do you have subtotals turned on in the data source ?
