I have source data which has months in it. I've written them as "May-16" "Jun-16" etc. I believe this means they're stored as "01-05-2017" etc.

I'm now running a pivot table. I'd like the data to be displayed as "May-16" or "May 2016". Instead it's still showing as "01-05-2017".

I went to format to change it and that worked. However, although I saw "May-16" at the top of the month grouping, I still saw "01-05-2017 Total" at the bottom of the month.

Also when i refreshed the data in the pivot table the formats reverted.

Help please.

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
Bigdan look to create a styled pivot table where you create the formatting how you want it. Under the Home tab go to the right and select the drop down for Format as Table and then New Pivot Style at the bottom.
