Hi all,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section.

We have just been upgraded to Office 365 at work (was 2013 previously).
Does anyone know if the pinned excel documents can be alphabetised? I can't seem to manually re-arrange them.

It's just not a huge problem but currently my pinned docs are in a random order and the bit of OCD in me doesnt like it!

Cheers

Chris

In Office 2016, recent items are sorted according to date and time and not alphabetically.

Thanks for your reply. And yes, it is frustrating but hopefully Microsoft will listen!

I think two different things are being referred to above.

My Pinned documents are not in alphabetical order or date & time (last accessed or edited) order. According to this, Pinned documents are kept in the order in which they are pinned. However, I have just unpinned all of mine and re-pinned in a different order but they have reverted to their previous positions. My guess is that when originally pinned something about that position is stored in the registry. The linked article describes where you might look in the registry but there was nothing obvious to me there & I am not one to 'meddle' in the registry. ?

An option to try if it bothering you is to unpin them then Save As or Copy each one as a new file and try pinning those new files in the order you want. Try a small test first as I'm not sure if they would add new ones at the top or the bottom of the list.

Edit:
BTW, I've moved this out of Excel Questions as it is not specifically related to Excel but to pinned documents in Office generally.

Seems like a lot of effort for something that previous versions allowed quite freely. Thanks for the input though, I think doing as you have mentioned is my only way round it (currently).
