I’m trying to create a pie chart that aside from data labels, includes data from two cells. One is a TOTAL number of the entire universe of what I’m measuring. This data is in cell D8. Currently that number is 583,948. In cell D24 is a subset of D8. Currently that number is 164,100. These numbers together total 748,047. This is not a number I want referenced in any way.

If I try and create a pie chart using those two cells D8 and D24 as the data points along with cells that include the data labels, the chart shows both numbers as making up the entire pie and my subset, D24 shows it’s 22% of the total 748,047 while D4 represents 78% of the pie. What I need is one slice of pie that shows my subset as being 28% of the entire pie (164,100 is 28% of 583,948)

Is there a way to show this?

Thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
if you want 28% of 583,948 then don't include that 583,948 cell as data chart, if 1 + 2 = 3 you can only use 1 and 2 as data chart (that would make more sense) and not 3, as you said it's subset, why you have to include let's just call it the "total" which is 589,948 as data chart? if i were you, first i will subtract that 589,948 to 164,100, second i use that subtraction result and 164,100 as data chart.

sorry for my bad english, hope it help.

Thanks. This helped me figure it out. A simple rename of the data set gave me what I needed. Your advice helped.
