Hey all! Happy Friday!

I have a total of 16 pictures in my workbook. The TOTAL file size for ALL pictures is just under a MB (850KB) before adding to the workbook. (Size on hard drive)

The file size of my workbook WITHOUT pictures is 6MB. The file size after adding the pictures jumps to 22MB.

I've resized and compressed the pictures as much as possible, both using an external tool and the picture compress option under the format ribbon. I don't understand how adding a megabyte of content can cause the file size to increase so significantly. Any thoughts on the why here, and any possible solutions?

Thanks all!

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Try using a zip file opener to open your excel workbook file. (something like 7zip or equivalent). Believe it or not excel files are very much like zip files in that they are a archive of all your content inside it.

By doing this, you can zoom into each folder within this .xlsx zip .. and see what file is giving you the trouble in terms of size.

Then you can delete things like images or other things that are giving you the trouble.
