Greetings all,

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was something akin to Personal.xls available in PowerPoint? I want to develop some code and place it in the default template so that it is run every time PowerPoint is opened, but I cannot figure out where this template is (or if this is even possible).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Sean

blank.pot

:)

Though you may want to put your code into an add-in and distribute it that way.

Follow-up Question

Hi gwkenny -

I am interested in this topic as well. Thanks for the advice on blank.pot. But, do I have to put a file with that name in the Microsoft Office file structure somewhere? Do you know where? And then, will a new space to store macros be available when I open the Microsoft Visual Basic Editor?

Or, within PowerPoint can I somehow specify that I want to store macros in a place that will be available regardless of what presentation is open?

Thanks,
Anita

The pot file goes in the same place where the PowerPoint executable if I remember correctly.

What you want to do is to have the blank.pot automatically load your add-in from a network drive. Thus all you have to do to maintain your code is to update the add-in on the network drive. Otherwise you'll have to bother with everyones POT.

Support for PowerPoint VBA and add-ins is very weak compared to the other office programs, so a lot of stuff you have to build yourself (i.e., getting the POT to look and load an add-in from the network on startup).
