I'm tying to rebuild our sales rep quarterly/year-end performance report to account for quarterly metrics weighting changes. Generally the performance metrics (attainment to quota and product volumes) have the same weightings each quarter so calculating the year-end ranks are easy, (YTD %attainment rank x weighting) + (YTD volume rank x weighting) to find an index value and then rank the indexes.
My problem is how to account for quarterly weighting changes. My thought was to calculate each quarter separately multiplied by 25% -- ((Q1 %Attainmnent rank x weighting + volume rank x weighting) x 25%) + ((Q2 %Attainmnent rank x weighting + volume rank x weighting) x 25%) etc. to calculate performance index value and rank on performance index. However this method appears to be more of an average of an average than a true weighting of quarterly performance aggregated to a yearly total.
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!!
