I am having trouble copying and pasting a worksheet with named cells from one workbook to another. The named cells in the original workbook are scoped to the worksheet. The destination workbook includes several worksheets, 4 different summary sheets and a large number of source sheets (copy and pasted from other files). The source sheets are supposed to have worksheet-scoped named cells exactly like the original worksheets. The summary worksheets have workbook-scoped named cells and pull the information using the worksheet-scoped named cells from the source sheets.
These files exist in the format described above from last year. The new information has come in and I need to copy from this year's original workbooks into the destination workbook. I deleted all worksheet-scoped named cells from the destination workbook. I copy the original worksheet and paste it into the destination worksheet. After I paste, the worksheet-scoped variables exist in the destination worksheet, but also workbook-scoped variables of the same name, referencing that sheet.
Note: The original worksheets are in a workbook specific to the employee (Excel 2003 file). The destination workbook is specific to a department (Excel 2007 file). I have succeeded at copying the information into one department's workbook, but the second department is the one giving me problems.
So the question is: how do I prevent my worksheet-scoped variables from pasting as both worksheet and workbook-scoped variables in the destination file?
