In my experience, if someone cannot describe their data with a couple of sentences and some monospaced text in a code block, Colo's routine will not make the explanation any more understandable.

Thanks Jon, you have a point, I will bear this in mind especially if i am seeking continuous development and improvement in excel and access with vba

I must sound like an old grouch, but my time is limited in these forums. I'd rather spend it on a question which has been carefully and concisely posed. I abandon at least a quarter of the posts I click on, because I can tell it will take too much effort to figure out what is being asked.
