I've created a chart in a workbook. I want to copy and paste that chart into another workbook in such a way so that when I update the original data it automatically updates both charts.

I have no problem doing this between Excel and PowerPoint or Excel and Word (Copy / Paste Special / Paste Link). But when I try it from one workbook to another workbook (or worksheet) the "Paste Link" option is inactive.

I would appreciate any assistance. Thanks!

Excel 2007 or 2010.

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
Figured it out.

Select first chart - click Copy - click new location - HOLD DOWN THE SHIFT key and click Paste. This pastes a link between workbooks.

I hope somebody can help me please. In one Excel file I have a number of tabs (one for each location), each containing a graph. In another Excel file I again have one tab for each location, containing some different information. I would like to add each graph to its respective tab in the second file - how can I do this?

I am using Excel 2010. I tried the above suggestion but it didn't seem to work for me - it might be that I just didn't select the correct type of 'paste' - I chose Microsoft Excel Chart Object whilst holding the SHIFT key. It pasted the graph, but doesn't update if the original graph is updated.

Can somebody please help me?
