Hey, welcome back to the MrExcel netcast.
I'm Bill Jelen.
Today's question is emailed in from Eric in Shanghai.
He says that he's learned how to customize this toolbar to add paste values and paste formats but, wonders that if there's any way, to add an icon for paste formulas.
Let's take a look at how to customize your toolbar and of course this only works in excel 97 through excel 2003, choose Tools, Customize and once this dialog box is displayed, you can take any icon from the dialog box and drag it and drop it onto a toolbar.
So in the edit category there's a couple of options there for Paste Formatting.
I'll drop that next to the paste button and Paste Values but as you scroll through here, you'll find that there's nothing else for paste formulas turns out you can take anything from a menu bar and also copy it to the toolbar.
Okay now, initially I didn't think this was going to work because on the edit menu we have paste special but, we don't have paste formulas.
If you take a look on the standard toolbar, at the icon for paste right next to it there's a drop down and in that drop down is paste formulas.
Turns out that you can take that word formulas and drag it and drop it on a toolbar.
If you did drag it, though it would actually be removed from this area.
So, you wanna hold down the control key while you click formulas drag it and add it to your toolbar.
Now, you'll have pasted formulas.
Of course It's a little irritating that it's giving us the text instead of an icon turns out that there is no icon for pace formulas.
If you want to though, you can change it to say the Default Style which is an image.
In this case there is no image, and then again right click change button image and you can either choose one of the can image is here or if you're really desperate, you can go into the Icon Editor and create some new icon.
That's you represents paste formulas.
There you have it.
Eric, thanks for sending in your question.
I think it's the first question we've ever had from Shanghai, China.
I really appreciate. If you have a question, feel free to give us a call or drop us a note and we'll get you on a future podcast.
Thanks for stopping by.
We'll see you next time.
