Parser corrupts formulas

I have had a nasty experience. I wanted to post a formula using the usual "smaller than" sign. However, the local parser misinterpreted it as an opening of a html tag and corrupted the formula.

Try to put a space in between the less-than and more-than signs, such as =if(and(A1 > B2,A1 < B3)...

However, I still think that the parser should ignore all such characters inside of "code" tags.

Oh sorry I thought within a comment itself...
Yes, I kind of remember that it indeed 'screw things up" while within a wrap

 (?) ... I got used to spaces with such instances.
