I have a chart of revenue over time (5 years of data). I would like to overlay a curve of the CAGR that reflects what the curve would have looked like if we have achieve 15% CAGR.

Is there any way to do this, without drawing the line manually?

An simple example would be ideal!

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Excel Facts

Last used cell?
Press Ctrl+End to move to what Excel thinks is the last used cell.
Period to date?

In other words, CAGR from time zero and aggregate along the time axis?

Yes, I'd like the CAGR line to start based on the 1st year and then reflect a curve assuming we had achieved 15% CAGR. I want to compare that to what we actually achieved.

Okay, so something like this? Mock data; column C is actual CAGR (red line, secondary axis), column D (green line) is what revenue would have been if CAGR is always 15%, and formula is shown in column E.

Solve for ending value in the CAGR equation:

end = begin * (CAGR+1)^n

Excellent...Thank you...I wasn't thinking about adding it to the data, but certainly the correct approach...

Thanks!
