Hi,
A question about overflowing text into the next cell.
As an example I have 3 cells say S20 T20 U20
If I merge these 3 cells then I can type say MISSISSIPPI & it looks perfect.
Merging cells creates problems for vba & the like.
So with the cells separate & not merged if you then write MISSISSIPPI it then flows in the next cell & the cell after that.
If I make the cells wider then let’s say F20 G20 H20 up above are affected & then puts them all out of place.

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Select the unmerged cells S20 T20 U20 and Right-Click
Format Cells\ Alignment tab\ Horizontal \ Center Across Selection

This looks just like merged cells, but they are not merged.

Thanks
This works fine if you type into the cells.

can you advise when using this with a drop down box list.

Example.

Cell N18 & O18 are the two cells in question.
The drop down list is in cell O18

The options are,
N/A
LLOYDS BANK
CARD SQUARE READER

Using the center across cells does not place any of the above smack in the center of the two cells like it does if the cells were merged.

Use ** as the left * right border of the outside cells.
So it would be shown like this,
** CASH **
** LLOYDS BANK **
** SQUARE CARD READER **

With merged cells it would be like this,
** CASH **
** SQUARE CARD READER **
** LLOYDS BANK **

Regardless of what the text is its aligned smack in the middle of the cells.

can this be also done the way you mentioned

Thanks
