Pre Outlook 2007, if you attached a file to your e-mail, you could right click on the icon of the attachment, select properties, and see the size of the attachment.

Is there a similar way to find out the size of the attachment (after attaching but before sending) in Outlook 2007? I feel like there has to be, I just can't find it anywhere.

I know I can look while selecting the file to attach, but I always liked that quick secondary check before sending.

Any ideas?

Hi Oaktree, does the file size not show in parentheses in the "Attached" line in the mail item once file has been attached ?

It does when you're composing in either the "plain text" or "HTML" formats; but, in the "rich text" default view, it just shows the icon in the body of the message. I was hoping there would be a way to see the file size in that "rich text" view...

I was just playing with this to see if there's a way...have you tried looking at the message properties?

If I drag/drop a file into an e-mail then look at the properties, it shows me
Size: 38kb (contains 1 included file(s))

Edit: Shoot. That only seems to work after it saves the open message as a draft. Apparently I had it open long enough to do that while I was looking at other options.

What you can do is prior to actually attaching the file (Instead of double clicking the file) Right click on the file itself and go to properties. Then after you have read the properites you can then attach the file.

Here's a shot of my setup...

Not sure if it makes a difference but I use HTML format

Brain fade... should have read the earlier posts more carefully.
But when I switched a sent message (the one with the shot above) to Rich Text I still had the size listed.

Thank you for the additional replies.

It sounds like my best bet is to just toggle between Rich Text and HTML format before sending. I'm still surprised there's not a different way to see that though...
